Angie: Hello, everyone.
Khushi: Hi!
Angie: and welcome to our podcast books of a feather I'm Angie
Khushi: and I'm Khushi.
Angie: And we're going to be your hosts for however long this goes on for which I hope is a very long time.
Khushi: Yes, this is very exciting.
Angie: So basically books of a feather will be a podcast. We scream about the three bird books, Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo, The Raven Cycle series by Maggie Stiefvater, and the All For the Game series by Nora Sakavic. And there will be spoilers past this episode. So just be aware of that.
Khushi: Yeah. And basically how this podcast is going to go is each episode we're going to have some special guests coming in. Who are a part of this fandom and create content for this fandom. And we'll be talking to them about their experiences with these three books and people [00:01:00] associated with that.
Angie: And we're going to have repetitive segments for each episode, for example, like head cannons or themes, or maybe some hot takes.
Khushi: Maybe. So, yeah, that is what the podcast is about now. Angie, why don't you tell us how you got into the bird books?
Angie: Okay. So my bird books journey started with Six of Crows in sixth grade, and I became aware of it because Leigh Bardugo, came to an author visit to my school
Khushi: Which is so exciting.
Angie: I know.
Khushi: And I would have cried.
Angie: I know! I would have cried more if I had been in the fandom prior, but I was not. And so like, one of my greatest regrets is, uh, not like meeting her at that event.
Khushi: You were so close.
Angie: Yeah. So close. So basically I read the two Six of Crows books, and [00:02:00] I became obsessed with them. What about you?
Khushi: Um, I started off with The Raven cycle.
Angie: Oh, okay.
Khushi: In 2019. And that was a lot of fun because it got me back into reading I just read all four of the books within a week. So honestly, I don't remember much about it, but it was, it was a fun experience.
Angie: Yeah. And you re-read - how many times have you re-read?
Khushi: Um, I think like, uh, like the whole series, probably like twice or thrice, but I do keep reading my tabs because they're the best parts.
Angie: Uh huh. Mine are actually like not tabbed at all. I'm, I'm only starting to do it this time, which is my third time around. And, um, for, for The Raven Cycle, I read them the first time in 2019 as well!
Khushi: Coincidence?
Angie: Ooh, because it wasn't! Because it wasn't. And, uh, speaking of [00:03:00] coincidences, we also share, one true love, AKA Kevin Day.
Khushi: Yes
Angie: And for All For The Game, I got into it in 2020, because literally everyone in the Raven Cycle fandom is also in the All For The Game fandom. So I just kept seeing TikToks and then...
Khushi: They're so similar. It makes sense. The characters, I mean, don't even get me started Adam Parrish and Kevin Day
Angie: and Kevin Day comparison. Yeah.
Khushi: I got into All For The Game. I want to say last summer, I honestly don't remember. And the only reason I read it was it was a short series and I wanted to see if I could read it in a single day, which
Angie: I did. That's like us a feat. That's a feat, that's an accomplishment,
Khushi: Yes, I agree. But I don't remember anything from the books, so I don't, I don't think it counts. I don't know.
Angie: I mean, I'm pretty sure it counts. You read them as they were meant to be consumed as a fever dream [00:04:00] as a fever
Khushi: A fever dream. So true. A Pipe Dream!
Angie: pipe dream, a pipe dream. No, that scene, that scene was so overhyped, like in my opinion, there was so much fan art of that rooftop scene and it was literally them arguing it wasn't romantic at all.
Khushi: Listen, what we find romantic is not what everybody finds romantic.
Angie: That is true. Speaking of that,
Khushi: Not the eyeballs scene.
Angie: Yeah, the eyeball scene. I was just about to say like, Kaz rips out somebody's eyeball for you, that's the height of romance.
Khushi: I think it's great. I think it was a confession of love for an Inej.
Speaking of the eyeball scene, Kaz and Inej. I started cosplaying through Inej. It got me into Tiktok. It got me into the cosplaying community. And that's how I met Angie.
Angie: Yeah, I think it's so, like, it is so underrated. How, um, cosplay really gets you to meet like so many [00:05:00] amazingly talented people
Khushi: And it's so true. Like now we have this whole group of mutuals. Yeah. We discussed and scream about that.
Angie: And especially because I mean, Six of Crows is a huge fandom, but for The Raven Cycle, it's like very small. And so literally everybody is mutuals with everyone else. And I love
Khushi: knows everyone in this fandom, especially on TikTok, if not on Instagram, TikTok Definitely.
Angie: And I think I met Khushi through, um, both of us doing Blue Sargent cosplay because I-
Khushi: Was It?
Angie: I don't know. I don't remember. I feel like I was like looking through #/bluesargentcosplay and you were there, which probably is how I found you.
Khushi: I think it was probably like a random Raven Cycle video cause I started cosplaying Blue much later.
Khushi: My old [00:06:00] videos.
Angie: Oh my God. My old videos were so like my old Blue cosplay was so low-key. I had like two necklaces two, just two.
Khushi: I think every time you cosplay Blue, you have to have to add one more.
Angie: Yeah, I agree. And I think we both have, I love how every Blue cosplayer has their own trademark. Like I have those yellow bottle cap earrings, and then you have your like sun, not sun, the moon earrings.
Khushi: The moon earrings, yeah. Blue, I think Blue is the easiest and the hardest to cosplay because like, you can always add your own elements to it, but at the same time, they have to be very weirdly put together to seem like Blue. Like, I dunno how to explain it, but it's really hard and really easy at the same time.
Angie: Yeah. Yeah. Like any combination of clothes could be her. [00:07:00] It could, it's like a little step away from being her.
Khushi: It just has to feel right. And then it's just Blue.
Angie: Yeah. And basically, now I'm just thinking of all the people that we can invite on here to talk about like their, like their particular brand of cosplay.
Khushi: I'm really excited for the guests we're about to invite to this
Angie: First of which being me
Khushi: Yeah, first of which being Angie. Yeah. The first episode is going to be me just interviewing Angie so you can get to know her. And I think it's going to be a lot of fun because we both ourselves cosplay, uh, two characters that are the same.
That's Kevin Day and Blue-
Angie: They're our staples
Khushi: And they are similar, but at the same time, it's very different.
Angie: Yeah. I mean, they both like to give me a confidence boost, but in a very different way
Khushi: Yeah. [00:08:00] And, um, I think it'll be fun to discuss. How, how you cosplay Blue and Kevin versus how I cosplay Blue and Kevin.
Angie: Oh Yeah. Like the creative differences.
Khushi: Yeah. Especially drawing the two and the queen
Angie: Oh my gosh. We could talk about an hour for the layers in the two tattoos.
Khushi: Oh my God. Oh my God. Yeah.
Angie: Special episode
Khushi: Special Kevin Day episode, honestly, Kevin Day deserves a special episode
Angie: He does. This is going to be a thing
Khushi: Special Adam Parrish episode and a special Kevin Day episode are required.
Angie: I agree. We are. We are doing this. We are definitely doing this
Khushi: Look at us making plans while, while recording the podcast.
Angie: This is like efficiency at its finest.
Khushi: Anyways. So yeah, this podcast will have a lot of chaos and many new people you might meet from the fandom. And that's about it. [00:09:00] Just us screaming about books and meeting new people.
Angie: Yeah. And so stay tuned for the next episode where Khushi will be interviewing me about basically everything that I've done since joining this fandom. And I'll talk about cosplay and music, uh, you should, you should stream "Made of Dreams" and "Savior complex" by Angelacranberry
Khushi: That was smooth
Angie: plug- um, but yeah! And also be sure to follow our podcast on Spotify or wherever you're listening to. So we will show up in your inbox.
Khushi: And follow our TikToks and Instagrams, if you don't already. We’re assuming you’re coming from there, but if you don't, just in case. They're all linked in the description.
Angie: Yeah. So thanks for listening, and we'll see you next time.
Khushi: Bye!
Angie: Goodbye!
